Indeed, it boasts the largest sea front in Italy, with a unique view of the theatres, the old town, the marina, and the imposing institutional buildings surrounded by endless blue and the clearest sky. As soon as you disembark, it’s like a journey back in time that begins in the Basilica of San Nicola and continues through alleys, stately palazzi, the fragrance of freshly baked focaccia, fried fish, and much more. Bari also captivates with its international culture, experienced through exhibitions and events staged in the breathtaking beauty of this regional capital.

The Port of Bari is traditionally considered the door of Europe towards the Balkan Peninsula and the Middle East. The Port of Bari, during the last decade, has obtained significant results in terms of tourist offer, experiencing a steady growth of passenger traffic, which stimulated a constant improvement of quality standards. The total passenger flow in the Port of Bari has averaged 1.500.000 ferry passengers and 600.000 cruise passengers per year between 2010 and 2019, representing the best growth performance both in terms of passenger number (+38,3%) and of calls (+46,9), thus favoring the urban and economic recovery of the city and its territory. Nowadays Alberobello, Castel del Monte, Castellana Grotte, Polignano, Trani and Matera, together with the historic, architectonic, and religious excellences of the City of Bari, are among the most iconic onshore excursions offered by the main cruise companies.

Currently, all activities linked to cruise passenger traffic are concentrated in the new Cruise Terminal together with the quays of the Western and Eastern Docks, having an excellent position for the cruise passengers visiting Bari. They currently allow the mooring of ships up to 330m and 12m draught.
