Francesco di Cesare chairs AIVP World Conference City & Ports 2023 this morning

Today Nov, 17, Francesco di Cesare, President of Risposte Turismo has been invited to chair morning works of AIVP World Conference 2023, opened by Edouard PHILIPPE, President of the AIVP; Mayor of the City of Le Havre, France

“Linking global and local, technology and the citizens” is the guiding topic for this year’s AIVP Conference on November 16th, 17th and 18th 2023. Social acceptability and citizen dialogue are the essential foundation of innovative ports. Venice is an extreme example of some of the challenges that will be discussed: threatened by sea-level rise and flooding, often at the forefront of social issues such as tourism, while also keeping and protecting local culture and heritage.

  • The next step for sustainable cruises

Cruise tourism is at the same time an opportunity and challenge for the port-city relationship. While this port activity allows a close interaction with the citizens, it is also seen as a part of the global phenomenon of mass tourism. Cruise ships are also perceived as sources of pollution in cities. In this situation, what are the actions that companies and port authorities can take to reduce their impact and make this activity more sustainable? Leading ports from the AIVP network will present their different approaches to support sustainable cruise activities.

  • AIVP Solution HUB: New ways for sustainable cruises

In this session we will learn about innovative products and solutions that can contribute to make cruises more sustainable in urban settings. Three companies will be invited to make short pitches (3/5 minutes) building on the challenges presented by the three ports in the roundtable. This will be followed by a debate with the companies and the ports.

  • AIVP Deep Dive: Port City Mobility

Mobility is one of the main challenges in port cities, from broader regional perspectives to concrete situations regarding port accessibility and sustainable last-mile solutions. In this intervention, transport planning experts will show us the problems that may emerge on different scales and review solutions for the different levels, that can help address several bottle necks.
